A Women’s Exploration Experience In Jackson Hole, Wyoming

In the early fall of 2024, we will embark on another round of our ‘Under The Stars’ adventure, through the breathtaking landscapes of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Our community of women will join together in a way that promises to reconnect with nature's untamed essence. This expedition isn't just a simple getaway; it's an immersive experience that allows us to rekindle our sense of wonder, rediscover our inner strength, and embrace the wild spirit within.

As the group delves into the heart of this majestic landscape, the towering peaks of the Tetons and the geothermal wonders of Yellowstone become more than just scenic backdrops. They become mirrors reflecting the participants' own resilience and untapped potential. Each step taken in this rugged terrain is a step closer to unraveling the layers of everyday life, learning to rewild ourselves.

Bonds are forged over campfires, as stories are shared and stars twinkle above, unhindered by city lights. Strangers at the start, we become a community of empowered explorers, encouraging each other to conquer comfort zones and inner obstacles alike. The retreat is more than an escape; it's a celebration of womanhood, unity, and the courage to embrace the unknown.

Are you longing for rejuvenation and expansion through the great outdoors, community, and creativity? Our exciting offerings, ‘Under The Stars’ Grand Tetons, will feature family-style campfire meals by the river, stargazing, sketching and hiking through The Grand Teton National Forest, a road trip through Yellowstone National Park, horse backing riding through the vast landscapes, hikes to hot springs, irreplaceable coffee sunrises, delicious meals, experiencing Jackson Hole, beautiful campfire gatherings, and friends that last a lifetime.

The Grand Tetons are tucked in the southwest of Wyoming just south of Yellowstone National Park. The Teton’s iconic snow-capped jagged cliff peaks emerging dramatically from the beautiful sage-brush filled valley inspire awe and wonder at the natural beauty of the world. This mountain range and valley offer not only picturesque vistas, but a home to the majestic wildlife of the western states.

Surrounding the Tetons is the beautiful town of Jackson and other pockets of mountain communities ranging up to the southern boarder of Yellowstone National Park. The town of Jackson and local businesses feature iconic western architecture and embrace the vastness of  the great western plains in their decor, cuisine, and offerings. Whether adventuring through Jackson or strolling through the open plains, you will drop into a deep sense of calm as you reconnect the wild terrain with the wild within.

Rising magnificently from the grassy plains, the Tetons stand tall and regal, piercing through the azure heavens and the most radiant of dawn's beginnings. Draped in snow during winter and adorned in a stark gray hue throughout summer, these majestic granite wonders provide a haven for those in search of tranquility amidst the mountains. Public, federally-owned land such as national parks and national forests makes up 97 percent of Teton County.

It is through these sacred outdoor spaces that we will be reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that become lost in our everyday life. We can drop into a place of groundedness, and of curiosity- by allowing ourselves to absorb much more when we are able to quiet the mind. These moments of awe, paired with intentional body movement, are natural remedies for anxiety, exhaustion, and confusion. Our goal is to remember that we are more ourselves than ever before when touching the bark of a tree, watching a beautiful sunset, or feeling the sun on our skin. These moments allow us to drop everything. disconnect, and strip back the layered roles; to fall back into the world around us. Experiences such as this will allow us to feel and think differently, expanding our awareness, creative nature, and overall sense of joy.

We will be hiking to lakes, outlooks and viewpoints— none complete without a picnic in the meadow or a sketch along the trail. The Tetons are home to several stunning lakes, such as the famous Jenny Lake, Leigh Lake, and Jackson Lake. The mirror-like reflections of the surrounding peaks on these clear alpine waters create postcard-perfect scenes and offer great photography opportunities.

When many think of the wild west, cowboys, endless skies, and unruly adventure through the last wild frontier come to mind. The Tetons are the youngest range in the rocky mountains and are situated in the south-west corner of beautiful Wyoming, neighboring the famous Yellowstone National Park. The parks are home to not only the largest elk herd in North America, but to grizzly bears, moose, wolves, bison and many other majestic animals and plants.

These lands have been providing bountiful harvest and sanctuary to humans for over 11,000 years, as the earliest evidence indicates. We will be honoring and walking the paths forged by tribes such as the Shoshone, Bannock, Blackfoot, Flathead, Gros Ventre, and many others who explored and lived in harmony with this land.

The granite spines of the Tetons dramatically pierce into the clear blue heavens from the tranquil sage-filled plains. These vastly different landscapes married together showcase the beauty of the park and act as a reminder of how dual forces work together in harmony. Nature is one of our greatest teachers and we believe these landscapes provide a gentle reminder to love all the different facets and dualities we embody as women in our daily lives.

Preservation of this wilderness and its inhabitants has been prioritized to where 97% of Teton country is federally protected as national parks and forests. Spending time in this beautiful place allows for us to realign our focus of embracing all parts of us and honoring the wild last frontier within.

Hi! We’re Bri and Rachel!

If you’re new here, we have been hosting retreats since November 2021, joining the Ember & Solis team in January 2023. We met in 2014 while living in Charleston, SC and quickly bonded over our collective love for the ocean, traveling, outdoor living, and of course, sharing good wine and storytelling. Years later, living coast to coast from one another, we still prioritize traveling and exploring the world together as a necessary part of our overall health and wellbeing. One constant remains for the both of us: the more vulnerable we choose to be, the more authentic and full our lives become.

We have learned first hand the importance of cultivating healthy and supportive female friendships and desire to expand this to a larger community. We know we live in a world that is in desperate need of connection and true friendship and this is where our community comes in! Even if traveling solo, you will leave as a member of this community with memories to last a lifetime.

I don’t consider myself an ‘artist’ or ‘creative’. Is this the retreat for me?

The very reason we started Ember and Solis was to disprove the very notion of ‘gatekeeping’ in the sense of artistic expression: meaning, we believe we are ALL innately creative. You do not need to consider yourself an artist, own a business, or have artistic experience to attend a retreat. All we ask is for you remain open-minded and curious throughout the process— we all find unique ways to drop into that curiosity and right-brained way of life.

What is not included in this pricing?

Your flight or way of travel to Jackson, Wyoming is not included. We are planning to have 50% of your meals prepared for our adventure, but please factor in cash for additional meals, snacks, alcohol, and spending money for souvenirs.

What if I am new to hiking or outdoor adventure?

Our favorite thing to say is that it’s never too late to start! The main goal of ‘Under The Stars’ is to promote a safe community for those of us who have always longed for these adventures, but don’t always have the friends or family in our lives to explore them with! Rachel and Bri have great experience in the outdoors, and will be there to guide you through basic safety needs and group hikes. We will not be participating in hikes that put anyone’s safety at risk, and all hikes will voted on by the group! Because this experience is created to ground you, each attendee has the choice to change their mind each day when choosing activities. That’s the beauty of this glamping site: there is always something to enjoy.

What airport should I fly into? Will we have communication with this process?

Jackson Hole Airport, Wyoming (JAC) is the closest airport. Ubers to/from the airport to our lodging are not included but we recommend coordinating with fellow attendees to share a cab. A text thread will also be set up to arrange similar flight times, to allow for the group to meet up and travel in pairs or groups. If you would like a private car booked from the airport, we can also do this for a small fee! Please check in with us before booking your flight, as we need to be sure the timing makes sense! If you have the space for it, arriving to Jackson a day early to enjoy the town is always an added plus, and we’d be happy to help scout recommendations. Salt Lake City Airport is also a 4.5 hour drive, if you would like to explore your options there. However, rental cars to the venue are not provided.

Fun Fact: Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only airport in the United States that is located fully within a national park!

What is the room sharing situation like?

Each cabin is spacious and will be shared between four attendees! These cabins actually sleep six, so there will be extra room for baggage etc. There are two queen beds and a twin!

What about food allergies or other food concerns?

We will be sending out a survey prior to arrival to address any and all food concerns! We ourselves have strict diets and will gladly accommodate for the group meals.

I’m new to traveling on a trip like this. How do I know what to bring?

Each attendee will be sent a specific list of goodies that will help make the trip effortless and fun. We will be sure to include everything down to the details of toiletries! We will do the work for you and be sure you’re prepared x
